The entry fee each week is 5 euros per player which has to be paid, via the collection box, before a player can tee off. The weekly prizes, covered by the total entry fees each week, will be vouchers redeemable from the Garrafeira S. Pedro wine shop in Torres Vedras.  Maximum Playing Handicap for Men is 24 and for Ladies it is 36.

The tournament will be divided as follows:

Division A – Players with a WHS handicap of 0-15 and the final result will be based on net stableford points.

Division B – Players with an WHS handicap of 16-24 and the final result will be based on net stableford points.

Ladies Division - there has to be a minimum of 4 ladies playing for a ladies’ prize to be awarded, otherwise they will compete in their respective handicap division: i.e. Ladies with a WHS handicap of < than 15 will compete in Division A and those with a WHS handicap >15 will compete in Division B.

Based on this weekly tournament, the following competitions will be run:

  • Autumn Competition - starting in October for 13 weeks – best 8 scores will count

  • Winter Competition - starting in January for 13 weeks – best 8 scores will count

  • Spring Competition - starting in April for 13 weeks – best 8 scores will count

  • Summer Competition – starting in July for 10 weeks – best 7 scores will count

These four competitions will be based on a points system whereby the player with highest number of stableford points (regardless of Division) will be awarded 100 points, the second-place players will get 95 pts, etc. In the event of a tie, then the winner will be decided by the best 9 scores in the Autumn, Winter and Spring tournaments and the best 8 scores in the Summer Tournament. The overall winners from each of these four competitions will play together in the tournament held on the third Thursday in September. The Champion Golfer of the Year Trophy will be then awarded to the Overall Winner of that group at the prize giving lunch to be held on the last Thursday of September.

A Two’s Competition will operate for every Thursday tournament. An entry fee of 2 Euros will need to be paid at the Golf Club sign-in desk by all players who would like to participate in the Two’s Competition before starting their round of golf. The winner/s and the amount won will be determined by how many gross birdies  or better ( Hole-in-One) have been made on any of the four Par 3’s. Each 2 or better that has been scored will qualify for an equal share of the total money collected.  If there are no winners then the money “rolls over” to the next Thursday. The final decision on the Two’s Competition can only be made after the last scorecard has been handed in.  Any score of 2 or better must be “initialled” by the playing partner on the scorecard.

There will be an additional “Eclectic” competition which will be open to all golfers participating in all Thursday competitions. Anyone wishing to participate will need to pay 10 Euros to the Golf Club Reception and all their scores during each quarter will count towards the prizes.  The competition is based on each golfer’s “best” score on every hole. The computer system will track this score for every tournament played from the date of the 10 Euro entry fee being paid.  There will be Gross and Nett prizes awarded for the completion of each quarterly tournament at the end of the competitive year.

In addition, during the year,  two other competitions will be held:

  • John Law Memorial Tournament honouring John Law will be held in July and it will be a pairs competition.  John was one of the founders of the Thursday Tournament and an icon of CampoReal Golf and the Resort and it is only fitting that he be remembered in this manner.

  • A Ryder Cup Match with two teams - one representing Portugal and the other representing the Rest of the World will be played on the last Thursday of September.  Each team will be composed only of golfers who regularly play in the weekly Thursday tournament. A lunch will be held after the Ryder Cup Match has been completed.
